For fans of top of the range modern design and quality this place is a delight. The architects Nalbach and Nalbach have fused the beautifully restored wharfside Rococco Ermelerhaus with state of the art modern architecture to create a building that typifies the uniqueness of Berlin. The hotel walls are dripping with art, primarily by Georg Baselitz, but also A.R. Penk and Warhol. Staff are very helpful. The suites at the top facing the Rotes Rathaus have stunning sunset views of Mitte. Check out the cigar room downstairs for a comfy armchair and a quiet smoke and the beautifully painted dining rooms for palatial atmosphere.
