The streets of Berlin - Mitte offer an impressive diversity of disigners and fashion houses. The strip south of Unter den Linden on Friedrichstraße is home to a range of prominant international labels and stylish department stores. Galeries Lafayette for example offers an exclusive range of French fashion in a luxurious shopping environment.
The area around Hackescher Markt will, by contrast, undoubtedly reward the more adventurous shopper with its array of studio boutiques. The scene here is youthful and chic. Many of these designers make their garments on the premises and as such are able to turn out custom made items in very short time.

Once Berlin's most fashionable shopping boulevard, Friedrichstraße is tooling up to win back the title from the somewhat faded charm of the Kurfürstendamm. The new Galeries Lafayette brings Parisian chic to the area, both in the state-of-the-art architecture and the high quality of the many boutiques. All the merchandise is French, and if it's style you're looking for, the selection of clothing, accessories and cosmetics is hard to beat. Don't miss the food court in the basement, where the Parisian delicacies will be sure to promote you a couple of dress sizes.
