Berlin has long been at the forefront of the world´s music and entertainment scene. From the bars on Oranienburger Straße to the clubs in Friedrichshain, Mitte and Kreuzberg, or the floating haven of the MS Sanssouci, the party scene is alive, kicking, and ever changing. The club scene also caters to a range of tastes from hip-hop and house to 60´s retro to jazz and reggae. It is with house, techno, trance and drum and bass, however, that the city really comes into its own. Berlin was the birthplace of techno, and there are plenty of clubs which feature and promote the genre.
