Not to be overlooked with all the media attention on Mitte. The west Berlin galleries, centred mainly around Charlottenburg are well established and often offer a good chance to view the works of big names (Baselitz, Nam June Paik, Warhol etc.) in an intimate and tranquil atmosphere. If your interest lies with the modern, rather than the contemporary then this is the area to head for.
