 In comparison to other German cities, locals find the motorist/cyclist relationship in Berlin rather hostile. If you´re used to the harsh streets of the English speaking world, however, be prepared for bicycle heaven - wide streets, reserved (and respected) bike lanes, motorists who are more likely to wave you through a crossing than try to squash you against the side of truck - in short, buy, beg, borrow or steal yourself a pair of wheels and get out there.
